MC10 convenes sports advisory board to support development of next generation athletic performance monitoring devices

Cambridge, Mass., April 19, 2012 – MC10 has formed a Sports Advisory Board (SAB) to shape the next generation of athletic performance monitoring devices. MC10’s unique technology platform transforms high-performance electronics into thin, conformal systems that enable an entirely new class of athletic apparel and equipment.

Inaugural members of MC10’s SAB include:

Matt Hasselbeck, three-time NFL Pro Bowl pick, quarterback for the Tennessee Titans;

Grant Hill, seven-time NBA All-Star playing for the Phoenix Suns;

Matt Birk, seven-time NFL Pro Bowl pick playing for the Baltimore Ravens;

Paul Rabil, National Lacrosse League player for the Washington Stealth, 2010 Team USA MVP and world champion;

Angela Ruggiero, former Olympian and US Women’s National Ice Hockey Team defenseman;

John Thompson III, head coach of men’s basketball at Georgetown University;

Taylor Twellman, retired Major League Soccer MVP and fastest to score 100 goals; and,

Kristine Lilly, retired Women’s Professional Soccer and US Women’s National Soccer Team star player.

MC10 is convening a team of accomplished athletes and experts across a variety of sports to advance the state of the art in athletic performance monitoring. The company’s seamless sensing platform allows for sensors to measure hydration, heart rate, muscle activity, motion, and other indicators of athletic performance – and is nearly invisible to the user.

“Performance monitoring devices available today are generally bulky and generate limited, often low-quality data,” said Ben Schlatka, VP of Business Development & co-founder of MC10. “MC10 is developing the next generation of performance monitoring products, and input from this impressive team of athletes will be invaluable. MC10 has benefitted tremendously by working directly with people in the field, and our goal in forming the SAB is to bring that tangible knowledge in-house.”

Tennessee Titans QB, Matt Hasselbeck, noted, “Athletes that want to improve performance need better information than current wearable devices provide, and they need to be unobtrusive and comfortable enough to wear through vigorous training and during games. I’m excited to work with MC10 and my fellow SAB members to bring this innovative performance monitoring technology to the mass market.”

“Teaming with MC10 provides me with a unique opportunity to apply my experience to the development of this innovative new sports technology,” said Grant Hill of the NBA Phoenix Suns. “MC10’s groundbreaking technology will provide athletes of all stripes with critical performance information that will inform the way we all train and compete.”

The MC10 SAB will meet on a regular basis. Additional members will continue to be added over the following months.

David Icke has been invited to speak at The TEDMED 2012 conference

Cambridge, Mass., April 9 2012 – MC10 Inc. CEO, David Icke, has been invited to speak at The TEDMED 2012 conference, an annual gathering of science, medical and technology leaders that explores the promise of technology and potential of human achievement in health and medicine. TEDMED 2012 is being held April 10-13 at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC.

MC10 reshapes electronics to create thin, conformal systems that flex, stretch, and bend seamlessly with the natural world. Its technology can connect with soft tissue both on and in the body, enabling entirely new types of wearable electronics and medical interventions. Mr. Icke’s presentation, on Wednesday afternoon, April 11 as part of session four will explore how conformal electronic systems can help us understand the mysteries of the body.

“The advent of electronics and computing have fundamentally changed the way we interact with the world, but the basic technology remains rigid and brittle – ultimately limiting how and where systems can be used,” said David Icke, CEO of MC10. “MC10 is reshaping high-performance electronic systems into an entirely new class of applications that will improve our quality of life. We look forward to sharing thoughts with the TEDMED community.”

MC10 is developing a variety of products including interventional circuits that can diagnose and influence tissue function and ‘seamless sensing’ devices that can monitor key systems and functions such as the heart (ECG), the brain (EEG), muscles (EMG), body temperature, and hydration. The company has partnered with a number of industry leaders including Massachusetts General Hospital and Reebok, and expects to launch initial products this year.

Mooresville, NC (March 23, 2012)-Paulie Harraka, the 2012 breakout Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and driver of the No. 5 Wauters Motorsports Ford F-150, partners with high tech sponsor MC10 for the Martinsville Speedway Kroger 250, March 31, 2012.

MC10 reshapes electronics to create thin, conformal systems that flex, stretch, and bend seamlessly with the natural world. The company is currently developing products for the sports, military, and biomedical fields and has initial partners including Reebok and Massachusetts General Hospital.

MC10′s patented technology allows conventional electronics to connect seamlessly with soft tissue both on and in the body, thereby creating entirely new types of wearable electronics. A key aspect of this approach is the ability to create body-worn sensors that are durable and collect high quality data.

“We are looking forward to the opportunity to work with Paulie Harraka and Wauters Motorsports. This is a unique test bed for our wearable electronics platform, particularly given the extreme temperature changes under race conditions. The seamless sensors that we have under development for hydration, body temperature, and more can benefit the athletes of NASCAR and many other sports,” MC10 CEO David Icke said.

“MC10 is at the cutting edge of conformal electronics, and the opportunities for them are endless,” Paulie Harraka said. “I’m excited to have a partner that is so innovative and forward-thinking, and believe that this will be the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship. Using their products, both on and off the track, will help make me a stronger athlete.”

The Kroger 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is slated for Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 1:30pm ET. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED.

Harraka will also be featured on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series pre-race Set-up show on SPED beginning at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 31, 2012.
